GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Nov. 8, 2022) – After a resounding success last year, Florida Credit Union, The Education Foundation of Alachua County and Florida Gators Sports Properties of LEARFIELD are joining forces again for the “Beyond the Arc” campaign taking place throughout the 2022-2023 University of Florida men’s and women’s basketball seasons. For every three-point basket made by either Gators teams during home or away games, FCU will donate $25 to The Education Foundation, up to $10,000.

“Florida Credit Union’s roots in education are as strong as ever,” said Beatrice Cherry, FCU SVP of Marketing. “Beginning in 1954 as the Alachua County Teachers’ Credit Union to the present day, FCU serves nearly 140,000 members, and many are teachers! We value and support our long-standing relationship with The Education Foundation in its mission to equip students with the necessary tools to empower their current and future successes.”

On January 8, 2023, FCU and The Education Foundation will partner to attend the UF women’s basketball game against the University of Georgia. The Education Foundation students, families and mentors from Take Stock in Children, a one-on-one mentoring program, will attend with 50 tickets donated by FCU.

“The Education Foundation of Alachua County helps the teachers of today build the leaders of tomorrow through three critical programs: Teacher innovation and development; senior scholarships; and mentoring for at-risk students,” said Jayne Moraski, Executive Director of the Education Foundation. “In 2022, the Education Foundation provided over $700,000 for deserving high school seniors to go on to college. We are so thankful for UF and Florida Credit Union’s shared support of education.”

The Free Throw Challenge featuring 1996 Heisman Trophy winner and FCU member Danny Wuerffel is making a return in the latter half of the season during a UF men’s basketball game and will see students compete to win exciting prizes. Last year’s competition against Wuerffel featured a University of Florida student whose eight free throws secured another $800 for The Education Foundation and raised FCU’s donation total to $11,000!

This cause marketing initiative is managed by LEARFIELD’s Florida Gators Sports Properties team, the Gators’ multimedia rightsholder which solely represents the University Athletic Association (UAA) and all corporate sponsorships.
