Mr. Lynn P. Jones, Sr.

Mr. Lynn P. Jones, Sr., has been involved in the Alachua County public school system for more than 39 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Biology and Health from Bethune-Cookman University and his Master in Administration and Supervision from Florida A&M University. He also holds an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Florida.

After college, Mr. Jones began teaching, then was called to duty in the United States Army, where he became a Communication Sergeant. After completing his duties in the service, Mr. Jones joined the Alachua County Public School system. He taught health and physical education in addition to coaching basketball, football and swimming for four years. He then became the dean of students, assistant principal and interim principal, which he held for 35 years in Alachua County school system.

Mr. Lynn P. Jones, Sr., is now retired from the Alachua County Public Schools, yet he remains heavily involved in the community. He is a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he sings in the Unity Choir and the Male Chorus. He is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
